Bill & Dottie Zales

Loess Hills – Western Iowa, north of Sioux City

We purchased 45 acres  in 1999 of which 33 were cultivated. The rest was Rock
Creek with timber and a small quality prairie high across the creek.

Prairie – August 31, 2017

The 33 acres were planted late fall 2003 with 39 forb species and 6 grass species –
all seed collected from my other local prairies.  They were mowed several times in 2004 and 2005 and were burned on:  28 Oct 2006, 4 May 2008, 11 April 2010, 3 May 2011, 13 May 2013, 17 April 2015.
