Instructions on using (some of) the buttons above the box where you write your post.

Bold or italic type - highlight the words you want to change, then click on either B for Bold, or I for Italics.

To make a link (to another web site) - click on the link button (it looks like a tiny chain).  It will give you a place to put in the link, and then a place to put in a "title" for the link.  The title is the word, or words, that will be highlighted in the post, that will take people to the link.

To add a photo - click on the first box after "Add media".  It will give you a choice between entering a web address - if your photo is already on the web, or browsing your computer and picking a photo from your collection.

I've found that photos need to be no more than about 500 pixels wide.  If they're wider,  the photos look squashed when they show up  on the blog.  So use your photo editing software to reduce the size before you try putting the photos in the blog.
